Advent is the time of year in the Church when we celebrate the first coming and anticipate the second coming of Christ. This year, in an effort to be more thoughtful and to prepare ourselves more fully for Advent, we’re going to spend an extended time of preparation in November and December. We are going to do this by looking at the Gospel in Genesis. Ever since man’s fall into sin, God has been preparing people for the coming of Jesus into the world.
We will look at six of the key figures in Genesis: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. We’ll look for evidence of the gospel foreshadowed in their lives and how God was preparing people for the arrival of Jesus. We’ll also see God’s patience and grace in dealing with men that continually mess up.
This is going to be an exciting series. If you haven’t spent much time in the Old Testament, I want to encourage you to be here for this study. You can begin preparing even now by reading through the book of Genesis. When you begin to see Christ in all of Scripture, God will create in you a hunger for all of His word!
I hope you will make every effort to be here for this great study of the Gospel in Genesis!
